Yes, 100% free. Students can browse all listings, view photos, see pricing, and read descriptions at no cost. You only pay rent — directly to the landlord. Aapdu Ghar never charges students any fee.
How do I contact a landlord?+
Each listing has a "Message Landlord" button. Clicking it opens a form where you enter your name, email and WhatsApp number. The landlord receives your details and contacts you directly. Their contact info is kept private for their safety.
Is my account and personal information safe?+
Yes. Sign-in is handled by Google's secure login and industry-standard encryption — we never see or store your password. Your information travels over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and access is protected at the database level, so only you can see your own account. We never sell your data, and every listing is personally reviewed by us (Lav). For your safety, always visit a home in person before sending any money.
Are listings verified? How do I avoid scams?+
I personally review every listing on Aapdu Ghar, and remove anything that looks off. However, always: (1) Visit the property in person before paying anything. (2) Never pay a deposit via e-Transfer without visiting first. (3) Ask to see the landlord's ID or proof of ownership. Report anything suspicious to me immediately.
Which cities do you cover?+
I cover 170+ cities across all Canadian provinces and territories — Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, PEI, Newfoundland, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and Yukon. Major cities include Toronto, Brampton, Vancouver, Surrey, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Montreal, Ottawa, Halifax, Saskatoon, Charlottetown, St. John's and many more.
Can couples search for rooms together?+
Yes! There is a dedicated "Couple Room" category, and many listings are marked "Couples Welcome". Use the room type filter on the Browse Listings page to find couple-friendly accommodations.
What is the vegetarian kitchen filter?+
Many Indian families maintain vegetarian-only kitchens. The "Vegetarian Kitchen" filter lets you find homes where no meat is cooked in the shared kitchen — an important comfort for many students and families across our community. You can also filter for Jain Kitchen, No Onion / No Garlic, Halal-Friendly and Non-Veg Allowed homes.
Can I get help in my own language?+
The platform is in English, but I personally speak Gujarati, Hindi and English — and I'll do my best to help in other Indian languages too. Is Aapdu Ghar only for one community?+
Not at all. Aapdu Ghar is built for the entire Indian community across Canada — Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Bengali, Malayalam and more — and it is open to everyone, of every background, religion and origin. I never discriminate. Anyone looking for a clean, honest, verified home is welcome here. 🙏
What if a landlord doesn't respond?+
Landlords are notified by email when you message them. If you don't hear back within 48 hours, try messaging another listing or contact me directly — I can follow up with the landlord on your behalf.

How much does it cost to list my property?+
The first 51 listings ever posted on Aapdu Ghar are free — forever. After that, it's just $20 / month per listing (plus applicable taxes), billed when you post. No setup fees, no commission on rent, no long-term contract. Cancel anytime — no cancellation fees.
How quickly will my listing go live?+
Every listing is personally reviewed before it appears publicly — usually within 24 hours, and often much faster during the day. You'll be notified by email the moment it's live.
How do I get paid by tenants?+
Aapdu Ghar is a listing platform only — I do not handle rent payments. You collect rent directly from your tenant however works best (e-Transfer, cash, etc.). I only charge you the $20/month listing fee.
Can I edit my listing after it's live?+
Yes — open your dashboard and click "Edit" on the listing. You can change photos, videos, prices, rooms, contact details and more, anytime, free. If you ever can't make a change yourself, contact me via WhatsApp or email and I'll handle it within 24 hours.
How many photos and videos can I upload?+
You can upload up to 50 photos (JPG/PNG) and 5 videos (MP4/MOV, max 100 MB each) per listing. Listings with photos receive 3× more inquiries, and walkthrough videos get 5× more.
Is my contact info shown publicly?+
By default, no — your WhatsApp, email and phone number are kept private, and interested students reach you through a form instead. If you prefer direct calls, you can optionally choose "Show my contact publicly" when posting — that's entirely your choice, and you can switch it off anytime from your dashboard.
Is my data and my listing secure?+
Yes. Your login is protected by Google's secure sign-in and encryption, so your password is never visible to us. Your private contact details are never shown publicly — tenants reach you through a form. Everything runs over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection on trusted infrastructure (Supabase & Vercel), with database-level access controls so only you and the admin can ever touch your listing. The platform is built security-first and reviewed regularly.
Can I list multiple properties?+
Yes — each listing is $20/month separately. There is no bundle pricing currently, but if you have multiple properties, contact me directly and I'll make sure the process is smooth for you.
Do I need to be from a particular community to list on Aapdu Ghar?+
No — all landlords are welcome, from every community and background. Aapdu Ghar never discriminates. The platform is built for the Indian community across Canada, but any landlord who has a clean, honest property and respects our community's values (vegetarian, Jain & halal-friendly options, family-friendly homes) is welcome to list here. I started with the community I know, and the door is open to everyone.
My room is now rented — how do I stop getting inquiries?+
Open your dashboard and click "Mark Rented" on the listing — it's hidden from Browse Listings right away and no new inquiries come in. The moment your next room opens up, click "Re-list" and it's live again. Prefer help? Contact Lav and he'll do it for you.
I need to update my listing but I can't make the change myself — what do I do?+
Can't make a change to your listing for some reason? Contact Lav — he'll handle it for you, free of charge.
